BOA's 16
th annual Dine & Rhyme event opened Sunday September 29
th with "This has been another unprecedented year," and this feeling of success continued throughout the night as over two-hundred people took their seats in the auditorium of the
Memorial Art Gallery.
Illuminated by a small light at center stage, award winning poet Li-Young Lee sat with his legs crossed beside renowned sitarist David Whetstone. Their collaboration of poetry and music stunned the crowd with a unique and entrancing ambiance. As each poem passed by, the claps from the crowd became louder and louder until the reading came to a close and a rush of onlookers took their place in the book sale line.
After Li-Young Lee's signing, the event was moved to
Restaurant Good Luck with complimentary wine and beer, incredible hors d’oeuvres, and a delicious dinner alongside BOA’s Silent Auction.
As the night wound down, more and more bids were taken for the numerous pieces of fine art, first edition books, vacation packages, and more, donated by businesses and dedicated supporters.
Dine & Rhyme is BOA’s only fundraising-event, making it a pivotal part of publishing the sensational poets and authors chosen each year. Without the amazing support and success of this event, BOA’s success could not continue.
We would like to thank Li-Young Lee, David Whetstone, and all of our supporters for making this event an incredible success.
