Jennifer Kronovet is the 2008 A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize winner for her first collection of poems, Awayward. Jean Valentine selected this manuscript from 17 semi-finalists and will write a Foreword to the published collection. Kronovet will receive a $1,500 honorarium and book publication by BOA Editions, Ltd. in March, 2009, in the A. Poulin, Jr. New Poets of America Series. [Janice N. Harrington] has been awarded the 2008 Kate Tufts Discovery Award for her debut poetry collection, [Even the Hollow My Body Made is Gone]. Established in 1993, the Kate Tufts Discovery Award is presented annually for a first book by a poet of genuine promise. The award will be presented by Claremont Graduate University Presents at 6:30 p.m. on April 15 at Thayer Hall, The Colburn School of Music in Claremont, CA. All are invited to come and hear the authors read from their award winning works. The ceremony will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available for purchase on site.
BOA poet [Lucille Clifton] was awarded the 2007 Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize. Established in 1986 and presented annually by the Poetry Foundation, the award is one of the most prestigious given to American poets, and at $100,000 is one of the nation's largest literary awards. BOA gives a hearty Congratulations to Lucille on this well-deserved honor!
