'Come Celebrate With Us': BOA's 2013 AWP Panel for Collected Clifton!
The 2013 AWP Annual Conference & Bookfair is fast approaching! And we could not be more excited.
Out of a record 1,300 event proposals for the upcoming AWP conference, BOA has been accepted for a panel "Come Celebrate with Us: The Multiple Legacies of Lucille Clifton," organized by BOA Publisher Peter Conners. This panel will honor the poetic legacy of Lucille Clifton (National Book Award, Robert Frost Medal, Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize) and the publication of The Collected Poems of Lucille Clifton 1965-2010 (BOA Editions, 2012). Distinguished poets, friends, and colleagues Kevin Young, Michael S. Glaser, Cornelius Eady, and Sonia Sanchez will join Peter Conners to discuss Clifton's impact as a poet, teacher, mentor, and guiding spirit. Attendees will be encouraged to share their Lucille Clifton stories at the end of the panel discussion.
AWP is the largest literary conference in the nation. More than 10,000 writers and readers attended the 2012 conference, and 600 exhibitors were represented at the bookfair. The 2013 conference will be held March 6-9 at the Hynes Convention Center & Sheraton Hotel in Boston, and will feature more than 500 readings, lectures, and panel discussions. Some of the featured presenters will be Seamus Heaney, Derek Walcott, and Rosanna Warren. See the full list of accepted events here.
