Richard Foerster's most recent book, The Burning of Troy, has been selected as winner of the Poetry Category for the 2007 Maine Literary Awards. He is the author of five poetry collections, three
published by BOA Editions: Trillium (1998); Double
Going (2002) which was named a 2002 notable book by the
National Book Critics Circle; and The Burning of Troy (2006).
He has been the recipient of numerous other awards, including the
Discovery/ The Nation Award, Poetry magazine's
Bess Hokin Prize, the Inkwell Magazine Annual Poetry
Competition for 2003; residency fellowships from Yaddo, National
Endowment for the Arts, Maine Arts Commission, Amy Lowell Poetry
Traveling Scholarship and La Napoule Arts Foundation, France,
2004. He has worked as a lexicographer, educational writer,
typesetter, and as the editor of the literary magazines Chelsea
(1994-2001) and Chautauqua Literary Journal (2003-
).
