BOA’s book sales generate approximately 35% of our operating budget. Copyright permissions account for another 8 or 9 % of our income.
Government grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council for the Arts, and Monroe County Mid-Sized Arts Grants provide approximately 11% of our annual funding.
Private foundations, such as The Lannan Foundation, and individual donations make up the rest of our budget. Our annual fundraising campaign is launched anew each fall. One major fundraising event, Dine & Rhyme, takes place in Rochester, NY each year.
Dine & Rhyme 2008: The 2008 poetry reading and dinner will feature BOA poet Naomi Shihab Nye. The date for this year’s event is Sunday, September 28. More details will be available in July.
