Anne Hebert

Anne Hebert

Born in Sainte-Catherine-de-Fossambault, Quebec, Anne Hebert is an important figure in world literature. Her novels --Kamouraska, Les Enfants du sabbat, Heloise and Les Fous de bassan -- are recognized as masterpieces of contemporary French fiction; she has writtten numerous short stories and screenplays for radio and television. Hebert has been the recipient of every major literary award in Canada, including the Prix du Gouverneur General, the Prix David de la Province du Quebec, the Prix France-Canada and the Prix Molson du Conseil des Arts au Canada, and several major awards in France. In 1987 BOA Editions published the first American bilingual collection of her poetry, Anne Hebert: Selected Poems.
