Robert Bly

Poet, translator, editor and mentor of the American men's consciousness movement, Robert Bly's contribution to American literature and culture has been invaluable. The author of numerous books of poems, translations, anthologies and critical essays, Mr. Bly has for decades championed the essential spirit of poetry.

Founder of the influential journal, The Fifties, Mr. Bly has balanced prolific editing, translating and writing with readings, lectures and workshops. A graduate of Harvard University, he leapt into prominence as the definitive poet protesting the country's involvement in the Vietnam War. Later, his landmark book, Iron John: A Book About Men, became a national best-seller and triggered the men's consciousness movement. Mr. Bly lives in rural Minnesota.
