The author of five previous books of poetry,
Michael Blumenthal grew up in a German-speaking home in the
Washington Heights
area of Manhattan. He graduated from Cornell Law School with
a J.D. degree and has worked as an antitrust lawyer, a high
school German teacher, an editor at Time-Life books, an administrator
for the National Endowment for the Arts, and as a producer
for West German television. Blumenthal's work has been widely
published in journals including The Paris Review, The
Nation,
Poetry, Michigan Quarterly Review and Doubletake.
